Montgomery Bus Boycott (5 déc. 1955 – 20 déc. 1956)

Description:

This bus boycott was a series of protests where African Americans would refuse to ride the city buses in Montgomery, Alabama. This was started by Rosa Parks who was first arrested for sitting in the "wrong" section of the bus, then many more followed after she was arrested. This boycott was organized by the Montgomery Improvement Association, whose president was MLK. This mainly influenced by the Jim Crowe laws which impacted African American's use of city buses. But this boycott contributed to the start of the Civil Rights Movement and influenced Dr. King's future use of non-violent protests.
