Peter Stolypin becomes Prime Minister. (21 juill. 1906 – 18 sept. 1911)
Description:
Stolypin was well known for his "carrot and stick" approach. By brutal supression of strikers, protesters and revolutionaries there was less opposition to the regime and by giving the Kulaks land, he could increase production as they were more efficient.
He also tried increasing industrial growth however many of the profists were going to the capitalists so cost of food and housing stayed high and workers' wages stayed low.
In addition, Stolypin attempted to introduce basic education for everyone and regulations to protect factory workers however the Tsar blocked his plans, as he was influenced by aristocrats and factory owners who owned the businesses and land that they would negatively effect.
