Description:
 The basis of the Italian Renaissance was the commercial revival beginning in the eleventh century. This was a period of massive financial and commercial development. Venice, Genoa, and Milan grew extremely rich due to the revival of trade. Italy's position as a crossroads between Northern Europe and the Middle East massivley benefitted its economy. This economic growth allowed the Renaissance to occur.
