Foster while on the staff of the National Bank (Australia), enjoyed a dynamic born again experience and immediately felt a call from God to enter the Ministry of the Church. after preliminary training in the Presbyterian Church, Foster served as Minister in Training in several churches in Victoria and West Australia.
