After Philip Astley's success in London. He eventually expanded to have permanent buildings in other cities and countries. Most notably, one of these locations was in Paris, France. By 1906, Paris would affirm itself as the world capital of Circus.
Green: Follows the development of Cirque d'Astley until its final run as Cirque Imperial. Its time is divided into periods each identifying either with a change of management, relocation, or both.
Blue: Follows the development of Cirque d'Hiver. Opening its doors during the reign of Napolean, the Companie was attributed to him. For a short period, the Company changed its name to Cirque National, and eventually to its current name Cirque d'Hiver. The location of Cirque d'Hiver has remained the same since its construction. Each period represents a change of management.
Orange: The original intention of this timeline is to track key moments in the origin and growth of the trapeze. A separate timeline is being made specifically for this. Eventually, these labels will be removed to make space.
