|1955| Attends first-ever Creative Problem Solving Institute(CPSI), where he meets Alex Osborn.

|1967| Appointed President of the Creative Education Foundation (CEF) after Alex Osborn's passing.
|1982| Retired as ICSC department co-chair and became professor emeritus. Would continue to teach as an adjunct at Buffalo State College.
|1967| Teaches first graduate courses in creativity at Buffalo State College.
|2005| The Sidney J. Parnes and Ruth B. Noller Creativity Award is established, a scholarship for graduate students at the International Center for Studies in Creativity.
|1969| Begins the Creative Studies Project with ICSC co-chair Dr. Ruth Noller, an experimental study with undergraduate courses in creativity and their impact on students.
|1973| The results of the Creative Studies Project show that creativity can be taught and learned.
|1975| The first Master's Program in Creativity is offered at Buffalo State College.
|2013| Passes away on August 9th at the age of 91.
|1955| Parnes and Osborn develop a new creative problem-solving model featuring five steps, instead of Osborn's previous that had seven.
