Letters was published serially in Massachusetts newspaper The Spectator and in book form
Sarah Grimke wrote a book called Angelina Grimke’s Appeal to the Christian Women of the South
Sarah Grimke spoke to a very large audience of men and women in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Sarah accompanied her father to Philadelphia so he could receive medical treatment. There she encountered members of the Society of Friends, or Quakers, who helped her care for her dying father.
Angelina wrote her Appeal to the Christian Women of the South imploring white southern women to embrace the antislavery cause.
Sarah wrote An Epistle to the Clergy of the Southern States, followed by An Address to Free Colored Americans.
Sarah and Angelina began a twenty-three week lecture tour in support of the abolitionist movement, unheard of for women of the time
Sarah and Angelina Grimke published American Slavery As It Is: Testimony From a Thousand Witnesses, a collection of newspaper stories from southern papers written by southern newspaper editors.
Sarah was seventy-nine and Angelina sixty-six, the sisters boldly declared a woman’s right to vote under the Fourteenth Amendment by depositing ballots in a local election.
