March 15, 1767 - Andrew Jacken was born to Andrew and Elizabeth Hutchinson Jackson, Scots-Irish colonists who emigrated from Ireland.
1781 - Jackson joins a local militia at the age of 13 after his brother died in the Battle of Stono Ferry in 1779. This is also when he was captured by the British.
1788 - Jackson moved to the frontier settlement of Nashville. Here, he would eventually become a wealthy landowner.
1796 - Jackson was a member of the convention that established the Tennessee Constitution. This year he was elected as Tennessee's first representative in the U.S. House of Representatives.
1798 - Jackson was appointed as a circuit judge on the Tennessee superior court, serving in that position until 1804.
1802 - Although Jackson lacked military experience, he was appointed as a major general of the Tennessee militia
November 1814 - Jackson led his troops into the Spanish territory of Florida and captured the outpost of Pensacola.
January 8, 1815 - In the last big battle of the War of 1812, Jackson led 5,000 troops to an unlikely victory over the British at the Battle of New Orleans.
1822 - Jackson's military accomplishments elevated him to the status of an emerging political figure, prompting Tennessee Legislature to recommend him for the presidency of the United States.
1828 - Over Adams, Jackson was able to win the presidency with South Carolina’s John C. Calhoun as his vice-presidential running mate.
1830 - In a controversial decision, Jackson signs and executes the Indian Removal Act which gave him the authority to make treaties with tribes that result in their resettlement to territories west of the Mississippi River in exchange for their ancestral homelands.
1832 - Jackson won his election again against Clay. In his re-election, he tries to re-charter the banks.
January 30, 1835 - Deranged house painter Richard Lawrence attempted to assassinate Jackson, but his single-shot gold pistol was unable to shoot.
June 8, 1845 - After he completed his second term he returned back to Tennessee where he died by the age of 78. Jackson died due to lead poisoning by the 2 bullets that were in his chest for years.
