Dragutin Schwarz recognized that the stomach must contain acid for an ulcer to occur.
Dr. Robin Warren noticed that there'e bacteria inside the stomach. This bacteria can cause signs of inflammation called gastritis.
Warren and Marshall isolate and cultured the bacteria, called Campylobacter pylori.
Marchall experiemnted with himself by swallowing a culture of H.pylori. He showed that H.pylori caused gastritis
Blaser and Guillermo Perez-Perez developed the 1st blood test to accurately identify carries of H.plyori based on tehir antibodies.
Blaser and Perez-Perez created a library of H.pylori genes within E.coli cells (mass produce them). They found CagA (cytotoxin-associated gene).
They colabrated with Dr. Abraham Nomura to study the relationship between H.pylori and risks for stomach cancer. They found H.pylori increase the risk of stomach cancer.
Blaser and his team, along with John Atherton, try to find a relation between H.pylori and acid reflux/heart burn (GERD).
Dr. Joan Reibman work with Blaser to find relationship between asthma and H.pylori. They found that poeple with H. pylori were less likely to have asthma than people without H.pylori
Blaser's team and Dr. Yu Chen reproduce Blaser's findings with another population using NHANES III data. Their results remain the same.
Blaser and Alberatine Beard reseach the connection between height and H.pylori
Blaser and his team, along with Ilseung Cho and Laurie Cox, set up experiemnts to find the relation between the usage of antiboitics and obesity/fat gaining in general
Blaser and Jessica Dunne talked about trying to find a relation between H.pylori and celiac disease.
