Opium Trade . - When it was 1820 to 1841 the Americans wanted to trade Opium ( A poisonous drug) with china in return for silk, tea and Pottery. Opium comes from a flower called the Poppy flower.Possetion Point-The area is where James Bremer, the commander in chief of British forces in China. Before Hong Kong grew into a city, it was located on a shorefront lane (now Hollywood Road) and was originally named Tai Hang Hau (‘Big Puddle’) after the water that collected here from a stream that flowed down from the Peak into Victoria Harbour.Treaty from Nanking- The fundamental main reason was to change the structure of the foreign trade imposed by the Canton System which has been going on since 1760.Murray House- 1844 - Major Aldrich and Lieutenant Collinson of the Royal Engineers built the Murray House.
