Simultaneously, he registers at Saratov Industrial Technical School, majoring in foundry.
From the 4th of September 1954 till the 1st of October 1955, Gagarin signed up at the Saratov Oblast Flying Club. He flew the Yak-18 and performed 196 operations.
Gagarin performs his first parachute jump.
Gagarin graduates from Saratov Industrial Technical School.
Gagarin performs his first solo flight in a Yak-18.
Gagarin was chosen into the Soviet Army and was sent to study in Orenburg at the Voroshilov 1st Chkalovsk Military.
Yuri Gagarin meets Valentina Goryacheva. He meets his future wife at a dance put on by the Orenburg base. Valentina was a medical technician in the base, one year younger than him.
Gagarin makes rank of Aviation Cadet Sergeant and is permitted to fly.

Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin is born 160 km of Moscow, Klushino.
Gagarin applies at the 1st class Klushinskoy Junior High School. Due to the war, Gagarin could not resume his studies until 1943.
During the spring of 1941 in World War II, the commencement of Germans invading USSR occurs.
Klushino is attacked and occupied by the German army.
