1497 - Newfoundland has been claimed for England by John Cabot. However, Britain did not want to build colonies there.
1534 - Jacques Cartier begins explorations of North America and discovers the Haudenosaunee. This is important because he discovered New France. If this didn't happen, someone else, like the Spanish, would've found it and we'd be speaking Spanish and English like Dora!
1608 - Samuel de Champlain finds Quebec. This is important because he helped build the French colony and developed the fur trade. Thanks to him, Quebec is now a highly populated place.
1670 - The English begin the Hudson's Bay Company. This is important because they sold stuff.
1812 - War of 1812
1814 - End of the War of 1812 This is important because the war was finally over.
1815 - the beginning of the Great Migration
1850 - End of the Great Migration This is important because no one wants to migrate for thirty-five years. THIRTY-FIVE YEARS!
1861 - American Civil War
1865 - end of the American Civil War. This is important because no-one likes war.
1867 - Canada is now a country! Yaaaaaaaaay!
1965 - Canada got a new flag. This is important because the maple leaf is now a symbol of Canada! Yaaaaaaaaaaaay!
The beginning of time.
The end of time.
