Intense above average flooding
left Midwestern soil drastically
saturated.Weather patterns persisted
and the saturation of soil
continued.A heavy snowfall added
to the already moist land.Thunderstorms and
rainfall continued to
create moist wetland.This date was the begging
of a 48 inch rain season in IowaSouth Dakota received 7.5
inches in a three hour period.Streams began having run off due
to the intense rainfall and saturated soil.Several levees across
the Midwest were faulty
and caused the river to floodIn Des Moines, Iowa, a water
treatment facility was flooded
by the Raccoon River, a lead
off of the Mississippi, causing
the plant to hault work.Another levee collapsed
near Colombia, Illinois.The river was finally retreating
to normal water levels
