You were harvested. she was sacrificed.'' -Tam LinAs Matt reads one of the books gifted to him by Tam Lin, he discovers the author is Marias mother who was living in the united states.El Patron has a heart attack during Emilia and Stevens wedding and Matt flees and hides in the secret passage as the staff in the estate search for him.Maria plans to escape with Matt to her convent disguising him as an eejit in attempts to rescue him from El Patron.Celia reveals she has poisoned Matt with arsenic making Matts heart unsuitable for a transplant, El Patron later dies and Matt is supposed to be disposed of.Tam Lin escapes with Matt to the Ajo mountains where he instructs Matt to flee to Atzlan so that he can escape being killed in Opium. Tam Lin explains that him nor Celia can escape with Matt, "You see, I've done terrible things in my life, and I can't escape the consequences."
