Mathieu Orfila- April 24, 1787- March 12, 1853. Called Father of Toxicology. Was the first great 19th century exponent of forensics medicine. Mathieu was also a chemist.
Francis Galton- Born Feb. 16, 1822. Died in Jan. 17, 1911. Francis undertook the first study of fingerprints and developed a methodology of classifying them.
Hans Gross- Born December 12, 1847. Died in December 9, 1915. He helped establish the science of forensics, especially in terms of cross-transfer of evidence, such a s dirt, fingerprints, hair, etc.
Alphonse Bertillon- Born April 24, 1853. Died in February 13, 1914. Alphonse was a French police officer and biometrics researcher who applied anthropology technique of anthropometry to law enforcement.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle- 1859-1930. Well known for his authorship of the SHerlock Holmes novels. In the book a bunch of techniques were discussed, such as , serology, fingerprinting, ballistics, and document analysis.
Edmond Locard- Born December 13, 1877. Died May 4, 1966. Edmond was a pioneer in forensics who became known as Sherlock Holmes.mmm
Leone Lattes- 1887. AN Italian Scientist who devised a procedure by which dried blood stains could be restored and grouped in blood types, categories. (A, B, AB, or O)
Calvin Goddard- lived 1891-1955. He was a forensics scientist, army officer, academic researcher and a pioneer.
J Edgar Hoover- Born January 1, 1895. Died in May 2, 1972. He worked with the FBI, he became involved with law enforcement as a special assistant
Walter McCrone- 1916-2002. AN AMerican chemist who was considered a leading expert in microsociology. Hes best known for his work on the Shroud of Turin, The Vinland Map.
Albert Osborn- Born March 26, 1929. Died 1946. ALbert is considered the father of science, he wrote books.
