Virginia (1607) The First Colony. The first Settlement was Jamestown
Massachusetts (1620) Founded by the Pilgrims who settled at Plymoth
New York (1626) It was founded by the Dutch who originally called it New Amsterdam
Maryland (1634) It was home to Puritans, Quackers, and Catholics Who did not get along with eachother
Connecticut (1636) A group of 100 Puritans left MAssachusetts to start a Colony in Hardford
Rhode Island (1636) It was founded by Roger Williams, A religious exile from Massachusetts. The Dutch called it "Red Island"
Delaware (1638) It's name came from Lord De La Warr, the Virgina Company's first Governer.
New Hampshire (1638) It was a Puritan Colony, and they did not tolerate any other Religion.
North Carolina (1653) It used to consist of both North and South Carolina
South Carolina (1663, 1712) Though, it was discovered in this year, It did not gain independence until 1712, When it was granted a charter separating it from North Carolina
New Jersey (1664, 1702) It was originally split into West and East Jersey until 1702 when they united
