1 janv. 1680 - Johann Pachelbel - Canon in D

Description:

Canon in D, also known as Pachelbel's Canon, was composed by the German composer Johann Pachelbel and released circa 1680-1706 during the Baroque Era. It was of the canon genre and originally made for three violins and basso continuo. A basso continuo is a repeating baseline that provides the harmonic structure of a piece. "It is Pachelbel’s best-known composition and one of the most widely performed pieces of Baroque music. Although it was composed about 1680–90, the piece was not published until the early 20th century" (“Pachelbel’s Canon.” Encyclopedia Britannica, Encyclopedia Britannica, inc., 21 Nov. 2024). In fact, the 20th century was when the piece started rapidly gaining popularity, due to many people using it in weddings and other ceremonies. The basso continuo, as well as counterpoint used in the piece are a staple of Baroque music. In the piece itself, the violins, reptition, and basso continuo create a peaceful and happy mood.
