18 mai 1933 - TVA

Description:

Created in 1933 during the 100 days, this was championed by Sen. George W. Norris of Nebraska, and was the most revolutionary of the New Deal plans. Over 20 dams were built on the Tennessee River and tributaries to control flooding, create cheap electricity from hydroelectric power, and revitalized the Valley region, creating full employment. It also created low-cost housing, cheap nitrates, restoration of eroded soil, reforestation, improved navigation, and clean waterways, turning the valley into one of the most flourishing areas in the US. After the great success of the TVA, supporters clamored for similar programs on the Columbia, Colorado, and Missouri rivers.
