Many colonists felt this was another example of British control over their lives leading to growing resentment and a desire for their independence. George Washington along with many other of Virginas wealthy elites land was affected by this line wich ultimately aided in pushing the country into a clear ideological break from the mother country This tension contributed to the larger conflict that eventually sparked the American Revolution.
