4 janv. 1890 - Sherman Anti-
Trust Act
Description:
- Based on Congress' power to regulate interstate commerce
- Declared every contract, ocmbination, or conspiracy in restraint of interstate trade to be illegal
- Corporate monopolies were exposed to federal prosecution if they were foudn to conspire in restraining trade
- Ultimately, the act was applied to both UNIONS and corporations
- Didn't bust many trusts, either (ex. EC Knight case found that a sugar trust controlling 95% of the refining capacity is not restraining trade)
