18 mars 1766 - Declaratory Act March 18, 1766

Description:

The Declaratory Act, formally known as The American Colonies Act, was issued by the British Parliament on March 18, 1776, and stated that Parliament’s tax authority in the colonies was the same as in Britain. The purpose of it was to assert Parliament’s power over the colonies and cover up the failure of the Stamp Act, which was repealed at the same time the Declaratory Act was put in place. There was little immediate impact in the colonies from this, but later it was used by revolutionaries as a reason for Britain's tyranny over the colonies.
