6 janv. 1774 - 1774 - Coercive Acts
Description:
In response to the Boston Tea Party, the British Government passed the Coercive Acts (also referred to as the Intolerable Acts by the colonists):
The Boston Port Act: in which the Boston port/harbor was closed until the tea that was destroyed was paid for.
The Quartering Act: renewed which consisted of requesting colonists to house and feed British soldiers.
The Massachusetts Government Act: which took away all the power of the local government and handed it over to appointed British Officials.
The Administration of Justice Act: which allowed British Officials who had been charged with a crime to be tried in Britain rather than in the colonies, as they had better chances of being acquitted in their mother country.
