1 janv. 1782 - J. Hector St. John de Crevecreur - Letters from an American Farmer

Description:

Crevecreur was unique in his approach of writing. Instead of writing just of the new place and all the wonders and hardships it held, he also focused on the culture shock of moving to a different land. He described American as a melting pot where everyone came together to create a unique and broad culture. This led to shaping the American Identity because he helped to show that Charles Town didn't need to just be a new version of England. There were so many different types of people and cultures all in the same place, it made more sense to bring together bits and pieces of each culture in order to create a new culture and identity. One that was unique to America and the people who inhabited it.
