1 janv. 1682 - Mary Rowlandson - Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration
Description:
Mary Rowlandson saw both sides of the world. She was in the elite of the world wanting nothing, however she also went through torture. Having nothing, being separated from her family, starving and dehydrated. She held strong and put all of her trust in God that she would return with her family again. Her strength and the fact that she kept such a great documentation of everything she went through was helpful in understanding what she went through. She was individualistic in her strength and dedication to her writing and her family. The people around her weren't nice to her and she had so many options to give her up and her strength made her stand tall and stand out.
"I have seen the extreme vanity of this world: One hour I have been in health, and wealthy, wanting nothing. But the next hour in sickness and wounds, and death, having nothing but sorrow and affliction"(Rowlandson, 158).
