1,500 Arawak people200/500 died en route
Natives killed for not finding gold, which there was little of. The rest fled but were eventually killed.
Arawak mass suicides began, babies were killed so Spaniards wouldn't murder them.
Within 2 years 250,000 Arawaks were dead, Natives taken to plantations for slave labor
