10 août 1755 - The expulsion of the Acadians

Description:

Acadia was right on the border in between the French and the British, because of this it was traded back and forth multiple times and the Acadians didn't feel particularly loyal to either side. France had demanded a oath of Allegiance many times and they had refused just as many as they had asked, so when the British demanded a oath of Allegiance and they had declined they assumed they would shrug it off and leave them be. But that didn't happen, the Acadians were ordered expelled by Governor Lawerence. 6000-8000 acadians were expelled in the first year but over 10000 were expelled in total.

This had taken the Acadians by surprise, after all they had been refusing to take the oath of Allegiance for years and nothing had happened.

The British thought of the Acadians as disloyal and traitors, they were eager to kick them out and take their land.
