Description:
- Abolished slavery in the US- Sharecropping came to replace slavery soon after the 13th Amendment
- Although black workers were being paid wages, the sharecropping system closely resembled slavery, especially since sharecroppers were nearly always in debt to the landowners and lived on the landowner's land
