24 janv. 1964 - 24th Amendment

Description:

On August 27, 1962, Congress proposed an amendment to take away putting a price on voting, or pole taxes. Because this discriminated against poor people who were at the time commonly black. On September 24, 1964 it was submitted to the states. And finally on January 24, 1964 the Senate passed the 24th amendment to eliminate all poll taxes granting everyone (over the age of 18) the ability to vote.
