31 janv. 1902 - George Melies (A Trip To The Moon)

Description:

George Melies was originally a magician and an illusionist. He then started creating films. He was originally like most filmmakers in those days, a documentarian. This meant he shot things that were non-fiction. One day he was shooting a street scene and the film jammed in his camera. He eventually got it working again and started filming again. When he got to developing his film and then watching it he saw that that gaming of the film had caused everything to be mismatched and created an interesting effect. As a magician he was fascinated by this and then decided to create fiction film. He then proceeded to make his own camera techniques, elaborate wild wacky sets and crazy costumes. He also made his own camera which was based on the lumiere brothers one as they didn't want to sell their camera to him. in the space of a few years he created over 500 films which is incredible. His most famous work is call A Trip To The Moon, in which some people as the name suggests, go to the moon. These films were revolutionary which is why George Melies is the father of sci-fi.
