The Delian, or Athenian, League, was an alliance of Greek city-states led by Athens to liberate eastern Greece from Persian rule.This is significant as the Delian League was successful in crushing Persian forces, and installed an aggressive Athenian dominance. This later culminated into the Peloponnesian War.
