1 janv. 1820 - Harriet Tubman

Description:

Tubman was born into slavery around 1820. Still as a child, witnessing the extreme violence being done to enslaved people and herself, she began fostering a desire for justice and started having vivid dreams and hallucinations which she often claimed were religious visions. In 1849, Tubman escaped slavery, but would return to the plantation several times to help free other enslaved people with the help of the Underground Railroad. It’s believed Harriet personally led at least 70 enslaved people to freedom, including her elderly parents, and instructed dozens of others on how to escape on their own. She claimed, “I never ran my train off the track and I never lost a passenger.” She passed in 1913, leaving behind a legacy of rebellion and communal resistance.
