Due to a minor conflict in the Gulf of Tonkin, and a steady pressure buildup in regards to Commies in Vietnam, starting the long, grueling war that never was winnable. As the nation watched in horror, this war degenerated into a waste of resources and men, and seeded some of the earliest student protests in the country.
