1 févr. 1960 - Sit-in at Woolworth's
Description:
Black people sit in Woolworth's stores starting February 1, 1960. This lead to Woolworth's retracting its segregation policy, and spurned the Civil Rights movement forth with gusto (even though it wasn't the first event of the movement). As such, its effects on other movements - diner sit-ins, boycotts, protests, and so forth - and even its influence on the existence of other movements at all, should explain itself in its significance to the nation and the era.
