1 janv. 1974 - Asian Americans for Equality

Description:

Asian Americans for Equality is an organization based in Chinatown, NY. AAFE helps Americans of Asian decent get the civil rights and affordable housing that they are rightfully allowed to have because that is what America is for. The organizations first problem they had to overcome was the controversial beating and killing of Peter Yew. They gathered over 20,000 protestors who gathered at the Ney York City Hall. As for the affordable housing part of AAFE, after the burning down of the apartment building on Eldridge Street; leader Doris Koo created new buildings which had 30% of it reserved for homeless people. Not only homeless Asians, as that would defeat the purpose of making a statement that everyone is equal.
