Description:

Goal: Improve morale in a time of 25% unemployment (we freak out if it's 5% today)

How: Put unemployed men to work on conversation projects involving forestry, the prevention of soil erosion, flood control, and similar projects

People LOVED it! There was even a spin-off program called the "She-She-She Camps" led by Eleanor Roosevelt, which was like the CCC but women. By 1942, with the draft and the need for labor in tech manufacturing, Congress closed the program.
