By the 1280s, Wales was made up of a number of various domains that was overseen by the main Kingdom of Gwynedd. Over the decades the Welsh had fought off various attempts at invasion from the English but it finally came under the rule of the monarchy after a two-year series of campaigns by King Edward I.
