Coronation Street has had no shortage of star-studded appearances, from Cheryl to Holly Willoughby to Prince Charles.

But fans were convinced that Johnny Depp would be making a cameo on the soap on Saturday, after Chris Gasgoyne, 51, posted a throwback snap with the Hollywood star.

The black and white Instagram snap led many die-hard fans of the soap to theorise that Johnny, 55, must be set to show his face in the Rovers Return very soon.

Chris - who plays Peter Barlow on Corrie - couldn't hide his excitement in the black and white snap as he posed with Johnny, thought it is unclear when or where the pair have crossed paths.

While the post was not captioned, fans were delighted by the unlikely meeting, with some guessing whether Johnny could be showing his face in Weatherfield.
