4 oct. 1778 - Franklin writes an address to Ireland

Description:

In the address, he speaks about the tyranny of the British and promises to help the Irish. He notably compares subjects of the British Empire to slaves, saying "I can-
not suppose it an unfair deduction to
say they are all born in a state of
slavery, for an obligation to work for
any other purpose than one's own
advantage, is truly the condition of a
slave, and every new tax adds a link
to the chain."
