1 janv. 1712 - The atmospheric engine, the 1st fuel-burning engine.

Description:

In 1712, Thomas Newcomen made the first fuel-burning engine. This engine was used to . pump water out of mines. The engine worked by condensing steam into a cylinder, this creates a partial vacuum. This then causes the atmospheric pressure push the piston into the cylinder, producing mechanical work.
