1 janv. 1925 - Pierce vs. Society of Sisters

Description:

Pierce vs. Society of Sisters - Pierce vs. Society of Sisters was a case where forcing students to attend public schools was outlawed. Walter Pierce, the governor of Oregon, was sued by a holy group in the same state. The sisters thought it was unlawful to decline parents a choice in where their children could learn, and it would impact their religious beliefs. This case was important at the time since it marked the start of homeschooling and private institutions. Even today you still see many kids being homeschooled or sent to places other than public schools.
