1 janv. 1829 - Metropolitan Police Act
Description:
Robert Peel's Metropolitan Police Act set up the first government-run police force in London. There were 4 inspectors and 144 constables, and it was a well-organised force.
However, few recruits were suitable and the police were still feared by the public because they thought that they were prying into their lives.
