Description:

In September of 1219, al-Kamil offered a peace deal that would have been an extraordinary success for the Crusaders had it been accepted. The terms of the deal were that al-Kamil would keep Damietta and in return, the Crusaders would be given Jerusalem and other parts of Palestine. However, despite one of the main goals of the Crusade being to take the Holy City, most leaders opposed the deal, and it was ultimately rejected.
