A source close to the actress, who divorced Johnny Depp two years ago amid claims of domestic violence, says the actress is quietly quaking in her boots now that the Pirates of the Caribbean star has served her with a $74 million defamation lawsuit following a story she wrote about the alleged abuse in the Washington Post.

In the suit, Johnny claims Amber made up stories that he physically abused her in order to boost her celebrity status and that he has witnesses who can prove it.

He also claims that Amber started an affair with Tesla founder Elon Musk within a month of their 2015 wedding and that rather than the actress being the victim of domestic abuse, it was Johnny who suffered at Amber's hand.

"Amber's completely thrown by Johnny's bombshell, which she never saw coming," a source close to the actress tells Woman's Day. "Her lawyers have assured hershe has nothing to worry about and that they're confident the case will be thrown out by a judge quicker than they can say his name.

But it's clear Amber isn't so sure. She insists no-one knows how truly clever and manipulative Johnny can be." Johnny, 55, and Amber, 32, married in 2015 and split 15 months later. Amber accused Johnny of throwing a phone at her face and hitting her on May 21, 2016, and six days later she filed for a restraining order, leaving a Califomia courthouse with red marks and cuts on her face.

Their divorce was finalised in January 2017, with The Danish Girl actress donating her $10 million settlement to charity. Johnny's lawsuit, however, pushes back at Amber's claims that she was a victim of spousal abuse.

His legal team ha apparently interviewed four staff and one neighbour at the former couple's penthouse building, who say they all saw Amber in the days directly after the alleged physical altercation on May 21, 2016 and that there were no marks on her face.

Johnny's legal team says they also have 87 different pieces of security footage to back up their witnesses' claims and they also have statements from staff who say within weeks of their wedding, Amber asked them to give Elon access to the apartment while her husband was out of the country filming.They allege that they saw him leave the following morning.

Johnny claims the tech entrepreneur was also allowed into the couple's apartment on the same night that Amber presented her battered face to the public - six days after the date that Amber claims Johnny bashed her.

A spokesman for the billionaire has denied the allegation, saying Elon and Amber only began seeing each other following the end of her marriage, and even then it was "infrequent".

According to the lawsuit, it was Amber who was the violent one in the couple's short marriage, apparently throwing a glass vodka bottle at Johnny which almost severed his right middle finger and causing the bone on the fingertip to shatter. He needed to have his finger surgically reattached.

Despite signing a non-disclosure agreement with the divorce settlement, Amber wrote a feature for the Washington Post in December last year, in which she talks about being a public figure representing domestic abuse. It's this that has sparked the latest legal action from Johnny.

"The implication that Mr Depp is a domestic abuser is categorically and demonstrably false," says the lawsuit, adding it was "part of an elaborate hoax to generate positive publicity for Ms Heard and advance her career."

Johnny was dropped from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise less than a week after the opinion piece was published and his reputation has been tarnished.

Reeling from the barrage of claims against her, our source says Amber has been leaning on lover Vito Schnabel, 32. The high-profile art dealer, who dated Heidi Klum for three years, however, "has not proven himself to be the pillar of support Amber expected, which has only contributed to her anxiety."

The source adds, "Johnny, meanwhile, has made a U-turn and his friends have gone from being desperately worried about his mental state to watching him come back fitter and stronger - and declaring war on Amber.

"Two of his closest pals are Nicolas Cage and Orlando Bloom, and they've continued to stand by him. He's lost a lot of acquaintances during this ordeal, but he's managed to salvage his closest friendships and insists he'll do whatever it takes to clear his name.
