One Direction star gave X Factor bosses a fright by going to visit his mum without informing anyone.

The singer went missing after being given 2 hours off on Wednesday.

The concerned production crew even started to call local hospitals and police once it got to midnight.

But the search was called off when Louis, 18, eventually contacted them - he told them he was back home in Northampton.

’[He] needed a break,’ a source tells The Sun.

Louis returned to London yesterday and has since been given a warning about going AWOL by bosses.
