1 janv. 1937 - Appeasement (does not really have a date (HFP))

Description:

The British policy of not stopping Hitler when he did something wrong, is called appeasement.

FOR Appeasement:
- Fear of communism. Hitler was seen as a buffer for stopping communism
- Memories of WW1. War was very traumatic for many nations.
- Britain and France were not yet economically ready for another war
- The TOV was unfair. Britain had seen the TOV as unfair for a while when it came to Germany.
- The depression. This meant Britain wasn't economically ready + other countries

AGAINST Appeasement:
- Hitler wasn't very trusted. He would do something and say that was all he wanted and then do something else a couple of years later.
- German rearmament. This caused tension between France and Germany and led to self-interest from France.
- The USSR. Hitler had stated before that he wanted to take land from Russia, Russia seeing that France and Britain were not doing anything about it called tension between the 3

Actions that happened due to appeasement:
- Rearming (1933+)
- Left LON (1933)
- Conscription (1935)
- Saar Plebiscite (1935)
- Rhineland (1936)
-Spanish Civil War (1936)
- Anschluss (1938)
