1 janv. 1924 - Mein Kamf published (contained HFP)

Description:

Background info:
- After the Munich Putsch (1923), Hitler was sent to prison for 9 months. Within those 9 months, he wrote a book about 'his struggles'. Along with the book, Hitler also started working on his "Foreign Policy", which was a list of aims he wished to achieve. Unit 3 is about how he got to achieve those aims and what happened for them to get completed.

What were the aims of Hitler's Foreign Policy?

- Abolish the TOV
- Rearm Germany
- Expand German territory
- To unite all German-speaking people (specifically wanted to unite Austria and Germany)
- Destroy communism by expanding towards the USSR

However, there were some issues with his Foreign Policy that contributed to the start of WW2:

- Aggressive: Germany started re-arming from 1933 to 1939; its army went from 100,000 men to 950,000 men, 30 battleships to 95 battleships, etc.). Along with that, the German contribution to the Spanish Civil War of carpet bombing, allowed Germany to test its army and air force. Due to Hitler's foreign policy, Hitler also kept on pushing things further and further, eventually leading to the invasion of Poland in 1939.

- Expansionist: The Munich Agreement of 1938 gave the Sudetenland to Germany. Germany later invaded Czechoslovakia a couple of months before the start of WW2. The union with Austria in 1938 is another example. This all contributed to Hitler being able to invade Poland a couple of months later.

- Unpredictable: The Nazi soviet pact being signed in 1939, the sudden friendship between Germany and Russia. He invaded Czechoslovakia after Hitler and claimed he had no more territorial demands. His policies forced Britain and France to declare war on him after he unpredictably took the second half of Poland that belonged to Russia even after the Nazi soviet pact.
