Francis Bacon, an English philosopher, published his book "New Science" in 1620- an event that marked a shift from viewing God as all-knowing to seeing man as all-knowing. Bacon believed that man could "unlock nature's secrets" through scientific discovery and exploration. This also marked the shift in authority from the church to the field of science (Bloom, 2023).
