American psychologist who earned his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and later received his Ph.D. in psychology from Harvard University in 1936.
Krech was known for his research in physiological psychology. His early work focused on the effects of brain lesions on behavior and the role of the brain in learning and memory processes. Krech contributed to the development of motivation, stress, and conflict theory. His studies laid the groundwork for understanding the influence of pharmacological agents on neurotransmitter systems and their behavioral outcomes. he was Instrumental in founding society for the “Psychological Study of Social Issues” in 1936 which emphasized application of psychology to social issues and the promotion of research that can contribute to societal well-being (Ghiselli, 1978).
