American physician and psychologist who made significant contributions to the fields of psychopathology and abnormal psychology during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Morton Prince earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 1879. Prince conducted extensive research on dissociation and investigated cases of what he termed "double consciousness" which are now recognized as instances of dissociative identity disorder (DID). He wrote on topics related to spiritualism and psychical research and use of hypnosis and suggestion (Campbell et al., 1925).
