23 juin 1832 - Carlton Club founded
Description:
The Carlton Club was a central headquarters in London for the Tory party which sent out information about policies to MPs and candidates.
Conservative associations were also set up in the constituencies, run by local solicitors to ensure Conservative supporters were registered to vote under the new regulations of the 1832 Reform Act. They also organised speakers and gave voters information at elections.
